Your entire electrical system will be protected by a residual current device. This is basically a sensor that looks at how much current is flowing out to a device and how much is coming back.  If any is missing, this indicates a fault downstream and the device will disconnect the power within 1/4 of a second. 

RCD's come in different sensitivities, depending on the application required.  If you were running a physiotherapy clinic from home - you may be required to provide a 'body protected area" which means all the circuits in that area would need to be fed from a particularly sensitive RCD that tripped at extremely low levels of current leakage.
